My head bowed in prayer
At the end of this day
To feel your spirit
Breathing across my soul
I sigh, relax
Releasing my mind
To your pictures as they slide
From one frame to another
Imagining…
Christmas, a holy birth
Proclamations sung by angels
Eternity radiating from the Star
Shepherds stunned, inn keepers
Faint-hearted, listening
Speechless with wonder
Villagers and kings moving towards
The Holy Light, salvation eternal
Imagining…
A mother’s miracle
Revelation, then grief
As understanding comes
That a sacrifice has been born
To her, to bear for history
Joy, tears, maternal protection
From life to death
Her own cross, for us
Imagining…
Could I, O God
Be a vessel of that magnitude
To be a Mary, a Noah, an Elijah
To grasp and hold onto
A God given holy mission
In the face of rejection and
Ridicule in this Santa ruled world
My cross, my benediction
Whisper, it is so…
Just imagining….
